The end of summer
The summer holidays are coming to an end, and tomorrow the new school year begins. That also means, of course, that the high season for holiday rentals is coming to an end. We’ll still be welcoming a few guests in autumn, but this seems like a good moment to look back on the summer.
So, how are we doing at playing Airbnb host? The answer is: pretty well!
Both the apartment and our “lakehouse” are clearly proving popular. A few numbers: during the three summer months (June, July and August), we welcomed a total of 52 guests from 13 different countries, who spent 92 nights here altogether.
With some guests, we barely noticed they were here. With others, we had some really interesting conversations. And the number of annoying guests we’d rather not see again? Zero.
More important than the numbers, of course, is what our guests actually thought of their stay. Here are a few snippets from their reviews:
We felt very comfortable here. A great swimming pond, a fantastic outdoor kitchen with a fridge. Everything was perfect, including the Wi-Fi.
A wonderful stay, everything you need for a fair price! I highly recommend it. (P.S. The dog was adorable.)

Very friendly and clever people, with an equally friendly and clever dog. We stayed here for two nights while exploring Lake Balaton. It’s a great location for doing that, with a lovely place to relax in the afternoon.
We loved ending our bike ride around Lake Balaton at Gert’s place. The swimming pool is fantastic, the kitchen is fully equipped, there are Bluetooth speakers for music, and the sun loungers are perfect for looking at the stars.
I think next year we should appoint Mazy as our co-host. She greets every guest warmly and has already figured out that (almost) every new guest wants to play with her.
